   @bobbytiger I’m guessing I wouldn’t like it, if I have to put up with this kind of hostility in the district from the people living there.

   As it is, I’m getting a double degree in computer and electrical engineering. That way I make way more than a typical teacher, and don’t have to put up with anti-government political activists giving me a hard time for doing my job.

   @bobbytiger And if you have bad teachers, I’m not unsympathetic, but in the long term attacking teachers’ benefits is counterproductive, because smart people in college end up avoiding teaching like the plague.

   $80,000 a year is really high, if I were you I would use this as a justification to raise the teaching standards in your district instead of responding by joining in on national anti-teacher hysteria.
